Job Overview
We are a well-established precision engineering sub-contract manufacturer seeking an experienced Quality Inspection Engineer to join our inspection department. This is a key role within the business, responsible for ensuring all components meet exacting customer and industry standards prior to dispatch.
The successful candidate will primarily work within the inspection department; however, a strong understanding of CNC processes would be advantageous in order to effectively interpret drawings, manufacturing methods, and tolerances.
Duties
* Perform first-off, in-process, and final inspection of precision machined components
* Operate and programme CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines)
* Conduct surface profile and dimensional inspections using a range of inspection equipment
* Utilise shadowgraph and other optical measurement systems
* Interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T
* Complete and maintain accurate inspection documentation and reports
* Support root cause analysis and corrective action activities where required
* Liaise with production to ensure quality standards are achieved and maintained
Requirements
* Proven experience in a precision engineering inspection environment
* Strong working knowledge of CNC milling processes
* Competent in the use of CMM equipment (programming experience desirable)
* Experience using shadowgraph, surface testing, and conventional metrology equipment
* Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and tolerances
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Proactive, methodical, and quality-driven mindset
Desirable
* Experience working to recognised quality management systems
* Knowledge of FAIR documentation and structured inspection reporting
* Continuous improvement mindset
