Assist the curator with the digitisation of NWCRA content. Assist the curator with the cataloguing of NWCRA content, including hard copy and digital catalogues and documentation. Assist Curator with Project Management.
Responsibilities
* Assist the curator with the digitisation of NWCRA content.
* Digitise posters, photographs, documents etc. as per the procedures and standards outlined in the NWCRA Digitisation Procedures Plan.
* Assist in the documentation and cataloguing of all of the above to Spectrum standard and in the Modes cataloguing system.
* Assist the Curator to develop a series of exhibitions from the content of the NWCRA, and to work with other project partners, Guildhall Press and Archive Ireland on similar projects.
* Participate in NWCRA strategic planning and development.
* Develop and lead on a marketing and social media strategy for the promotion of the above programmes, activities and events.
* Prepare written reports in association with relevant NWCRA staff, for Management Group and Advisory Group, and attend meetings as and when required.
* Attend appropriate training and personal development designed to enhance personal skill levels, thereby assisting the development of the NWCRA.
* Assist with the production of evaluation of NWCRA operations.
* Assist Museum Curator with Project Management.
Skills and Qualifications
* A primary degree in an area relevant to the history collections of Museum of Free Derry and NWCRA (e.g. history, social anthropology, politics, museum studies)andA minimum of two years’ experience as a member of a team within a museum/ heritage.
* Or a minimum of three years’ experience as a member of a team within a museum or other heritage organisation.
* A demonstrable commitment to making museums and heritage accessible to the widest audiences.
* Knowledge of current issues relating to conflict and legacy and the ongoing social peace process.
* Experience of working with partners at a local level.
* Experience of developing and delivering events.
* Experience in website management and the use of content management systems.
* Experience in communicating with audiences on digital media channels.
* Ability to build trust and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Experience of working on exhibitions.
* Experience of working with partners at an international level.
Further Information
The North West Civil Rights Archive is a three-year collaborative project (following a development phase) between the Bloody Sunday Trust / Museum of Free Derry, Guildhall Press and Archive Ireland, which will bring together the existing extensive archives of all three organisations, and also expand the archive with the addition of other existing collections and the creation of new materials, e.g. oral and video histories, publications, films etc. This archive will be made accessible to the public through a variety of media and programmes.The North West Civil Rights Archive is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund.
