EHS ADVISOR
SOUTH QUEENSFERRY, EH30 9SH (ONSITE)
COMPETITIVE SALARY
Progress Rail is seeking an EHS Advisor to lead, mentor, and guide efforts to protect employee health and the environment. The role involves supervising activities to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and corporate policies across the company's facilities in South Queensferry.
THE ROLE:
As an EHS Advisor, your responsibilities will include:
1. Assisting management in understanding EHS requirements and their operational impact.
2. Promoting safe practices and integrity in daily activities.
3. Maintaining communication with facility leadership teams.
4. Managing EHS systems to maintain ISO45001 and ISO14001 accreditation and contributing to system development.
5. Conducting internal audits and preparing for external inspections.
6. Identifying hazards and working with EHS teams to establish safety guidelines.
7. Assessing regulatory impacts and communicating these to relevant personnel.
8. Preparing and reviewing EHS training materials and delivering training sessions.
9. Providing annual EHS training and conducting new hire orientations.
10. Addressing compliance audit findings with management.
11. Monitoring safety improvement initiatives and incident investigations.
12. Adapting best management practices to site needs.
13. Engaging with employees through safety walks to foster safety culture.
14. Investigating standards for protective equipment and conducting safety assessments.
15. Generating reports for environmental and safety agencies.
16. Managing site permits, Legionella, waste, noise, and energy management systems.
17. Reviewing and updating COSHH, PUWER, and risk assessments.
18. Leading EHS committee meetings and developing safety reports.
19. Monitoring asbestos management and conducting safety walks.
20. Serving as the site security manager for SQF compliance.
21. Performing additional tasks as directed by EHS and General Managers.
THE CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate will have:
* Extensive knowledge of EHS regulations, programs, and policies.
* NEBOSH General Certificate with at least 3 years of experience; a diploma or technical degree is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of EHS standards and regulations.
* Excellent communication skills across all levels.
