As an Engineer in our Bridges and Civils team within our Transportation business, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of transportation. We work on a diverse range of significant and challenging projects across the UK and Ireland, including the Midlands Rail Hub, East West Rail, Lower Thames Crossing and a variety of National Highways Schemes. The team also supports non‑transportation civil engineering and structures projects throughout the UK and internationally such as the Water Market or Nuclear schemes including the Rolls Royce Small Modular Reactor programme. Locally in the Midlands we deliver a range of local authority projects for councils such as Warwickshire, Herefordshire, Solihull, Coventry and Birmingham. You will take pride in creating high-quality civil and structural designs for new builds, renewals, maintenance and assessments.
Your role
* Take pride in developing high-quality civil and structural designs for new construction, renewals, maintenance and assessments.
* Collaborate with national and international design teams, utilizing your experience to create positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.
* Use analytical skills to derive potential solutions to engineering problems and apply engineering judgement to appraise different options and recommend the most suitable option.
* Undertake technical work independently, including the production of high‑quality design documentation such as sketches, drawings, 3D BIM deliverables, analysis models, calculations, reports and specifications.
* Provide guidance and support for more junior members of staff.
* Support on bids, tenders and winning work.
* Possess sound interpersonal skills and the ability to converse with a wide range of colleagues across engineering disciplines.
About You
* A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or a related discipline.
* Near Chartered/Chartered status and membership of the ICE or IStructE.
* Experience working on projects with key clients such as Network Rail, National Highways or local authorities as well as major contractors and developers.
* Good understanding of relevant design standards (e.g. Eurocodes, DMRB, MCHW and Network Rail standards).
* Practical knowledge and experience of delivering Railway Civil Engineering and stations projects.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to converse with a wide range of clients, stakeholders and colleagues across engineering disciplines.
* Knowledge of AI or programming skills is welcomed.
