Job Description:
Product Safety Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, BAE Systems
Pay Rate: £55.31 PAYE or £74.68 Umbrella
Duration: 12 months
Key aspects of the role include:
* Supporting the Vehicle Control Key Safety Function, with a focus on navigation systems.
* Conducting Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard Analysis (HAZAN) in support of submarine design.
* Producing detailed Product Safety functional justification reports.
* Collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
* Providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
* Delivering specialist safety advice to systems engineers across various submarine programmes.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
* Functional Safety principles, particularly for complex, software-centric systems.
* HAZID and HAZAN techniques.
* Experience with submarine systems, ideally vehicle control or navigation functions.
* Expertise in producing Formal Safety Assessments.
* Strong track record of team collaboration and delivering to schedule.
* Excellent written communication for producing high-quality technical reports.
* Ability to perform probabilistic analyses.
