Salary: £40,000–£55,000



Location: North Hertfordshire Area

The Opportunity


As a Private Client Solicitor, you will manage your own diverse caseload whilst receiving appropriate supervision and mentorship. This role offers genuine autonomy, exposure to high-quality work, and the chance to develop lasting client relationships—particularly with clients from agricultural and farming backgrounds.

You'll be part of a collaborative and inclusive team that values innovation, professional growth, and delivering cost-efficient legal services through the latest technology.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage a mixed caseload of private client matters including wills, trusts, tax planning, probate, and estate administration
* Provide high-quality, proactive legal advice tailored to each client's unique circumstances
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, anticipating their needs and delivering exceptional service
* Achieve fee targets and contribute to the team's overall success
* Utilise technology to deliver cost-efficient and innovative legal solutions
* Enhance the firm's reputation through active participation in professional and community activities
* Support and mentor junior team members where appropriate


Essential Requirements

* Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales with 1–3 years PQE in Private Client law
* Law degree, LPC completion, and two-year training contract (or GDL conversion, LPC, and training contract)
* Alternatively, relevant CILEX qualification with equivalent experience
* Proven track record in handling complex private client cases including wills, trusts, probate, and tax planning
* Strong technical knowledge of inheritance tax, capital gains tax, and trust taxation
* Excellent client care skills with the ability to explain complex legal matters clearly
* Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
* Commercial awareness and ability to work towards fee targets


Desirable Skills

* Interest or experience in agricultural law and working with farming families/landed estates
* Knowledge of Court of Protection matters
* Experience with case management systems and legal technology platforms
