Financial Accountant, UK and Ireland
Contract: Permanent Contract
Based in Newbury, UK.
Hybrid: 2 Days Per Week in Office.
This position will provide the financial support to ensure the essentials are in place and operational for maintaining accurate and adequate books and records in accordance with local and US generally accepted accounting principles. This includes a focus on accounting compliance, internal controls and tax compliance. The role is a core element of the matrix financial organization comprising local Finance, Polish Finance Centre, Europe and US Finance teams.
Key Activities and Accountabilities:
Financial Accounting and Reporting
1. Ensure financial results are accurate and fully compliant and are appropriately supported by adequate documentation
2. Provide support for annual statutory audit and financial statements processes
3. Provide support for all company and indirect tax returns
4. Working in partnership with the wider finance team, support the month end close process through to successful, effective, efficient and timely completion
5. Embrace PowerBI dashboards and big data to drive business performance
6. Build/ foster/ facilitate strong relationships across the wider finance team and our stakeholders.
Internal Controls Compliance
7. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place, documented and reviewed regularly
8. Prepare process narratives to ensure they remain up to date
9. Ensure all month end controls are evidenced appropriately and in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements
10. Analyse processes, identify improvement opportunities and propose solutions
Tax compliance
11. Support the UK’s Statutory Accounting Officer compliance programme
12. Maintain the tax control frameworks, risk matrices and related narratives
13. Maintain strong relationships with our internal tax stakeholders
14. Support all HMRC related audits
Other
15. Support with implementation of local country related projects
16. Ensure we hit all Corporate/divisional deadlines
17. Play an active role in improving processes
What you will need:
Education
18. University degree (accounting related)
19. Newly qualified or final stage study to obtain professional accounting certification (i.e. ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW)
20. English language – other European languages advantageous
Experience
21. 3+ years working in a finance function (or accounting practice). Newly Qualified or One Year post Qualification Experience
22. Comfortable with developing, maintaining and manipulating big data
23. Strong advanced excel skills
24. Strong system knowledge of Oracle an advantage

Travel Percentage: 10%
