Job Title: Workshop Controller
Location: Hyde
Salary: £36,000 + Bonus circa £2000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday (Days) and alternate Saturday mornings
Shift: 7am-5pm or 8am-6pm

Join our Team as a Workshop Controller
The Workshop Controller plays a pivotal role in supporting the Depot Manager to ensure the workshop operates efficiently and profitably. This customer-facing role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing service schedules and workshop flow. You will be required to support the service team in ordering parts and ensuring the workshop runs smoothly.
Key Responsibilities of the Workshop Controller
* Commercial vehicle Industry knowledge required as will be working closely with the HGV Technicians and customers
* Raise job cards, estimates, and invoices accurately and promptly
* Update job statuses on the system in real time
* Plan and allocate jobs to meet customer deadlines
* Maintain and manage service schedules for all customers
* Monitor job timings and ensure parts availability
* Communicate service updates, authorisations, and completions to customers
* Coordinate with workshop staff to ensure smooth job progression
* Process purchase orders with precision
* Ensure parts are ordered and available when needed
* Assist the Depot Manager to cover sickness or holidays
* The service controller will be based in the depot to assist the depot Manager with all admin and technical areas of a very busy depot.
* Create and maintain jobs on the system in a timely fashion.
* Ordering parts for the HGV’s and Trailers
* Assist with scheduling of servicing and keep all records up to date.
* Update customers on the progress of jobs and obtain authorisation where required.
Required Skills and Experience for the Workshop Controller role:
* Experience gained working within the commercial vehicle sector in a similar role would be essential (happy to look at someone form an HGV parts background)
* NVQ / City & Guilds Level 1, 2, or 3 certificates or equivalent qualifications and experience
* Excellent IT skills required - Word, Excel, Outlook and online portals.
* Could suit a technician looking to come off the tools.
