Job description
Our client, a prominent figure in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a Wiring Assembly Technician on a contract basis. The role is based within their Manufacturing Department, requiring high precision in the assembly of varied specialist wiring assemblies and test activities. You will support electrical assembly processes to the highest standards and ensure the transfer of essential skills within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Wiring complex assemblies using technical drawings, wiring/circuit diagrams and work instructions
2. Terminal installation
3. Soldering high-density multi-pin connections
4. Soldering surface mount devices
5. Mechanical assembly of control cabinets, racks, frames and associated metalwork
6. Manufacture of cable looms
7. Printed circuit board assembly and repair
8. Repairs and modifications including upgrades in accordance with documented procedures
9. Comprehensive checks on wired assemblies
10. Ensuring all paperwork and electronic systems are completed accurately for traceability
11. Maintain good standards of housekeeping and cleanliness while following health and safety practices including ESD precautions
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
12. Experience or qualification in electrical assembly
13. Previous assembly experience within a workshop manufacturing environment
14. Excellent soldering skills, including complex high-density connectors and surface mount devices
15. Attention to detail in assembling skills
16. Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and PCB schematics
17. Strong time management skills, with the ability to work unsupervised to deadlines
18. Effective communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
19. Basic computer literacy, including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Desired Skills:
20. Qualification to IPC-A-610/620
21. Experience with COSHH
Essential Functions:
22. Role based in the Manufacturing facility and may involve some lifting of equipment
23. Ability to attain UKSV security clearance
