Project Director – Edinburgh
An opportunity has arisen for a Project Director to join the team at Galliford Try. We are looking for an experienced Project Director to join our Building Scotland Central business unit and lead the successful delivery of major projects across multiple sectors including education, healthcare, and commercial developments. Reporting to the Operations Director, you’ll be accountable for ensuring schemes are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to exacting client standards.
What you will be doing
* Create and maintain a ‘Knowingly Safe’ working environment, ensuring full compliance with CDM principles and all relevant legislation.
* Promote and embed a strong F.R.E.D.I.E culture across your projects. (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion, Engagement)
* Work closely with designers to secure safe, buildable and timely designs that support efficient delivery.
* Champion innovative technology, construction techniques and continuous improvement.
* Own project risks and opportunities, working collaboratively with the Risk Manager.
* Lead thorough investigations into any incidents or accidents and implement corrective learning.
* Ensure delivery quality meets required standards across all phases of work.
* Oversee project resourcing, including team mobilisation, demobilisation and redeployment.
* Manage, mentor and review the performance of direct reports, providing support, development and direction.
* Drive strategic leadership and contribute significantly at Divisional Board level, leading regional board meetings monthly.
About You
* A strong track record of leading major projects and multiple teams, with demonstrable success in developing high‑performing cultures.
* First‑class project management skills and a proven ability to deliver on client expectations.
* Exceptional communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
* Thorough knowledge of CDM 2015, NEC contracts, and commercial best practice.
* A commitment to safety, quality, inclusion, and operational excellence.
Qualifications
* Relevant CSCS card
* Office 365 proficiency
* Prince2, APM, or equivalent project management qualification
* HNC/HND or Degree in a relevant discipline
