We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified ambitious and motivated individual to join our highly skilled and friendly team of radiographers, delivering excellent patient care at Barts Health NHS Trust.
This position will be based at The Royal London Hospital site which is located in the historical, vibrant and diverse east end of London. The position will be to assist in the clinical delivery and supervision within Core Services.
The Royal London Hospital is home to the London Air Ambulance. It is one of the capital’s leading trauma and stroke centres and houses one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK. Mile End Hospital is undergoing an exciting transformation to become a community diagnostic and early diagnosis centre.
The imaging department at both hospitals has state of the art equipment throughout and provides a varied rotation through different modalities and specialities.
As a major teaching hospital, we pride ourselves on our commitment to career and professional development including mentorship, radiographer reporting, radiographer led line insertions in Interventional Radiology, sonographer training and sonographer ACP.
Applicants for this post must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers. Applicants must also be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
The post holder will be able to work out of hours providing that these shifts do not interfere with their core working hours.
Main duties of the job
Working within a multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will contribute to the safe and effective running of the imaging department. They will be an expert in their field of clinical practice and will be able to perform a wide range of x-ray examinations to a high standard. The post holder will be required to rotate through all areas of Core Services, and they will participate in the delivery of a 24/7, 365 service of Core Services and CT via 12 hour working days. This is a leadership role and the post holder will offer supervision to band 5 and 6 radiographers, assistant practitioners, imaging assistants, students/apprentices and visitors to the imaging department, they will be required to deputise for the modality lead and role model professional behaviours. The post holder will ensure patient flow in the trust by actively managing the flow of emergency and in-patients to ensure same day imaging. The post holder will be key in ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and experience. The post holder at all times will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and act in accordance with the HCPC standards of proficiency. Furthermore, they are expected to establish and maintain positive interpersonal relationships with other staff members characterized by trust, mutual respect and open, honest communication.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. •BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography, DCR(D) Diploma of the College of Radiographers, or equivalents
2. •Health and Care Professions Council Registration
3. •Evidence of career-long commitment to CPD
Desirable criteria
4. •Student Clinical Assessors Course
5. •College of Radiographers accredited IV cannulation course
6. •Postgraduate study in a relevant area
Experience
Essential criteria
7. •Up to date knowledge of general imaging techniques
8. •Able to work unsupervised
9. •Awareness of clinical governance issues in relation to patient care.
10. •Understanding of factors affecting service throughput and quality
11. •Completion of preceptorship
12. •Experience of on-call and out of hours roster
13. •Leadership and mentoring experience
Desirable criteria
14. •CT and/or Interventional Radiography experience.
15. •Previous experience as Band 7 radiographer.
