Scantec FMCG Recruitment is partnering with a fantastic Food Manufacturing business in Manchester to assist in their search for a Quality Technologist. This site is located in Northern Manchester and is part of a successful national food group. It is a newly-defined role within the site, offering excellent opportunities to develop your experience and participate in site and group projects.
Role Purpose:
This role involves auditing all quality-related activities and working closely with Operational, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Hygiene functions. You will audit routine quality assurance testing, sampling, and calibration throughout the manufacturing process, ensuring adherence to internal schedules across the factory.
Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8am-4.30pm, 37.5 hours per week
Core Responsibilities:
* Audit pre-start-up activities to ensure compliance with the site schedule, including line checklists, metal detector, checkweigher, autocoding, cleanliness standards, and glass/hard plastic checks.
* Audit completion of various tests (pH, allergen, ERH, weight control, calibration, verification), and verify labels and packaging are to specification.
* Audit routine sampling programmes, ensure compliance, and follow up on corrective actions post-results.
* Audit calibration and inspection of manufacturing equipment as per schedule.
* Conduct internal audits in accordance with the Quality Management System, including CCPs, allergens, hygiene, documentation, GMP, foreign bodies, glass, and PPE, and follow up on corrective actions.
* Audit daily product quality evaluations of finished products, recording and reporting results proactively.
* Escalate food safety, quality, and legality incidents to management, ensuring timely reporting and effective corrective actions.
* Escalate deviations from sampling and checking programmes to relevant managers to ensure activities are on track.
* Champion continuous improvement initiatives to enhance GMP standards and QMS implementation.
* Participate in external audits and customer visits, supporting the Technical team.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
Seeking an experienced Quality Technologist/Auditor (minimum 3 years in food manufacturing) with strong knowledge of BRC and customer codes of practice. Must have Level 3 in Food Hygiene & HACCP, and internal auditor training or certification (advantageous).
