Job Overview
Full‑time Locum Consultant Breast Radiologist position within University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, with primary base sites at Good Hope and Solihull hospitals. The role supports symptomatic breast radiology services across all hospital sites, contributing to increased workload driven by service expansion, cancer pathway targets, and multidisciplinary meetings. The successful candidate will also support training of Senior House Officers and Fellows.
Key Responsibilities
* Leadership & Governance
o Ensures service delivery is within available resources.
o Manages demand and prioritises imaging services as required.
o Demonstrates excellence in patient quality care.
o Provides coverage for radiologists during leave to maintain service continuity.
* Interpersonal and Communication Skills
o Integrates into a collaborative department working closely with radiological colleagues.
o Contributes to the design and implementation of imaging services using latest evidence.
o Provides excellent report‑writing skills and effective communication with clinical colleagues.
o Develops and maintains effective networks to identify and implement best practice within the Trust.
o Exhibits well‑developed listening and communication skills when interacting with clinicians, managers, and other professionals.
* Planning and Organising
o Participates in the delivery of the comprehensive breast imaging service across multiple modalities.
o Contributes to discussions on future development of imaging services within the department.

* Administrative Support

Person Specification
Essential
* GMC Registration.
* Evidence of Continuing Professional Development including CME.
* Clinical training and experience equivalent to UK CCT in Clinical radiology.
* Clear and demonstrable commitment to breast imaging.
* Evidence of subspecialty training in breast imaging.
* Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients.
* Understanding of Clinical Governance and Audit requirements.
* Knowledge of the role of the ethical committee.
* Ability to develop clinical specialities.
* Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with other clinical specialties involved with imaging.
* Ability to organise and manage outpatient/inpatient priorities in accordance with Trust requirements.
* Willingness to work within the Trust and NHS performance framework and targets.
* Experience of audit management.
* Knowledge of complaints, ethical issues, and Clinical Governance.
* Prompt and timely responsiveness to management agenda.
