Robert Half Finance & Accounting are supporting a business who are looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team on a fixed term contract basis for 9 months. This opportunity has the potential to be extended and can either be based in Plymouth or Exeter.
Start Date: April 2026
Duration: 9 months, with potential of extension
Location: Plymouth or Exeter
Salary: £29,000 - £32,000
Working hours: 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, 1 hour lunch break
Responsibilities:
1. Maintaining the accounts payable ledger
2. Maintaining the accounts receivable ledger
3. Bank reconciliations
4. Assisting with month end - accruals, prepayments
5. Assisting with client reporting
6. Liaising and resolving client queries
7. Self-assessment tax returns
8. Assisting with ad hoc finance tasks to assist the wider business
Desired experience/background:
9. Proven experience in a similar varied position
10. Initiative to work in both individually and in a team environment
11. High attention to detail
12. Excellent communication
13. Computer literate
14. Experience using Xero - Desirable
15. Studied or currently studying AAT - Desirable
16. Knowledge of UK tax regulations - Desirable
