The Role
Telephone Account Manager
Location
Edinburgh or Stirling office (3 days per week)
This role sits within M&G Life, a division of M&G plc that runs the Prudential Assurance Company and is responsible for manufacturing and reviewing all insurance products. The distribution team promotes our open book propositions to the UK financial adviser marketplace. The Telephone Account Manager is an office‑based role that covers a specific panel of adviser firms in a geographic area aligned to a region. The role uses account management sales skills and extensive sales techniques on Teams and the telephone to achieve sales targets. It collaborates with Sales, Account Relationships and other key departments to provide a consistent account management services approach to a defined panel of accounts.
Key Responsibilities
* An appropriate level of high‑quality sales activity with a panel of adviser firms to deliver a sales revenue target for a regional sales team.
* Open‑up and develop new growth opportunities with low‑producing adviser firms via consultative selling techniques and new propositional developments.
* Effective ongoing business planning in line with sales management direction.
* Document all activity and processes according to channel standards on the CRM system (Salesforce).
* Maintain current and relevant knowledge of company and competitor propositions.
* Ensure all activities remain compliant with policy, legislation and risk appetite.
* Collaborate with colleagues and take responsibility for improving controls to enhance the control environment, improve client outcomes and reduce operational risk.
* Support M&G Life growth ambitions and sales plan delivery.
Key Accountabilities
* Provide a high‑quality service to advisers and stakeholders using significant practical experience and/or training.
* Work within established frameworks and procedures, with the freedom to interpret them to solve a range of problems.
* Suggest improvements to the team’s work, driving better practices and outputs collaboratively.
* Take responsibility for self‑development and further advancement through company‑sponsored training and skills sessions.
* Use judgement to strengthen the risk and control culture, identify, assess and manage risk within your business area to meet regulatory and industry obligations.
* Understand the Code of Conduct and how it applies to your work.
* Comply with all relevant policies, including mandatory training and CPD requirements.
Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience (preferred)
* Experience in the Financial Advice sector and regulated sales environments.
* Strong working knowledge of industry best practice, good network/links with external bodies and individuals.
* Level 4 Pfs or equivalent qualification as a minimum.
* Strong proven skills in relationship development, communication and influencing.
* Knowledge of M&G propositions, systems and distribution approach.
* Strong knowledge of the investment markets, multi‑asset fund solutions and CRP/CRP design within an advice process.
* Knowledge and experience in Platform, Funds and MPS market.
* Detailed knowledge of life and pensions products, markets and competitors.
* Good knowledge of financial services regulatory and legislative frameworks.
* Strong team working ethic showing high drive and delivery.
