Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen. The Swindon & North Wiltshire Parkinson's Nursing Service is looking for a Band 6 Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist to work as part of the team providing nursing care, support and advice to people affected by Parkinson's.
This is a varied role working in both the community and hospital environments undertaking home visits, seeing patients and their families within the clinic environment and working as part of the PDNS team supporting the patient during any hospital stays.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist nursing care, support and advice to patients affected by Parkinson's disease in the Swindon and North Wiltshire area.
* Work in both community and hospital environments, including home visits and clinic-based patient and family interactions; support patients during hospital stays.
* Be part of the Parkinson's Disease Nurse Specialist (PDNS) team and support the patient through transitions of care.
* Develop further clinical knowledge of Parkinson's disease with support from a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrate excellent communication and written skills to provide information that supports, promotes and encourages patient empowerment and informed decision making related to care and support needs.
* Maintain functional links with stakeholders (patients and families, multidisciplinary teams, hospital departments, community services and voluntary organisations).
* Focus on the care of those with idiopathic Parkinson's or related Parkinsonism's.
Employment Details
* Part-time role of 22.5 hours per week; salary on a pro rata basis.
* This role is offered on a part-time basis to accommodate flexible working patterns.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Nurse (Band 6) with an interest in gaining further clinical knowledge of Parkinson's disease.
* Excellent communication and written skills.
