The HSQE Advisor is responsible for supporting the company in maintaining the highest standards of Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental (HSQE) management across all construction sites and business operations. The role involves driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation, and supporting continual improvement in operational practices.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSQE management systems, policies, and proced ures.
* Conduct and document regular site audits, inspections and risk assessments; follow up on action plans to ensure compliance and continual improvement.
* Provide consistent, clear HSQE advice to site teams, managers, and project stakeholders, supporting understanding of statutory duties and company requirements.
* Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and leading action plans to prevent recurrences.
* Deliver inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions on safe working practices, quality control, and environmental awareness to all levels of site staff.
* Monitor, analyse and report on HSQE performance data, trends and KPIs for continuous improvement.
* Manage the dissemination of safety alerts, updates and lessons learned following incidents and industry changes.
* Liaise with regulatory bodies, auditors, suppliers and clients to ensure compliance obligations are met and best practice is shared.
* Keep up to date with relevant H&S, environmental and quality legislation, standards, and industry developments, recommending and implementing improvements as required.
* Champion the company’s commitment to a proactive health and safety culture and contribute to quality and environmental initiatives and campaigns.
Person Specification
* NEBOSH, NCRQ, or equivalent health & safety qualification (Minimum requirement).
* Demonstrable experience as a HSQE Advisor within the construction sector.
* In-depth knowledge of current UK legislation: Health & Safety, Quality Management, and Environmental Compliance.
* Proven ability to deliver training and communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
* Sound analytical, report writing, and data management skills.
* Strong organisation, planning and interpersonal skills.
Reporting/Relationships
* Reports to: HSQE Manager/Head of HSQE.
* Works closely with: Project Managers, Site Managers, Operational Teams and external stakeholders.
