Thrive Group are delighted to be working with our client in Shepton Mallet who is actively looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join the team on a permanent basis.What you will be doing: Working in a fast-paced FMCG factory environment, we are seeking a Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias) to help keep our production running efficiently and reliably and support growth of the engineering team.
* Diagnose and repair production and process equipment across all sites.
* Carry out electrical and mechanical maintenance including wiring, fault finding, and system repairs.
* Work with PLCs, inverters, heating elements, servo motors, contactors, overloads, sensors (inductive, reed, proximity), and more.
* Perform mechanical repairs on conveyors, gearboxes, pumps, shafts, tensioners, bearings, etc.
* Maintain a range of equipment including high-speed packing machines, fillers, pasteurisers, printers, boxing machines, and inspection systems.
* Record breakdowns and maintenance activities clearly and accurately.
* Execute and improve pre-planned maintenance (PPM) to reduce downtime and support OEE targets.
* Contribute to ongoing performance improvements and engineering project
What you will need to succeed:
* Fully qualified maintenance engineer (ideally time-served, with City & Guilds / HNC / HND).
* Strong electrical experience is essential.
* Working knowledge of PLC systems and automated equipment.
* Mechanical experience with conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, and more.
* FMCG or food & beverage manufacturing background preferred.
* Additional skills like turning, milling, or welding are advantageous.
