About Us:
We are a nurturing and inclusive nursery dedicated to supporting the development of children aged 0–5, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Alongside our website developer, we are now looking for a specialist Gaming Developer who can design and build interactive, educational games that will help children learn, play, and thrive in an engaging digital environment.
Role Overview:
The Gaming Developer will be responsible for creating fun, accessible, and inclusive games tailored to the learning needs of nursery-aged children. The focus will be on designing digital experiences that support communication, sensory engagement, cognitive development, and social interaction, particularly for children with SEN.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop interactive, age-appropriate games for children aged 0–5.
* Incorporate accessibility and SEN-friendly features (simple navigation, visual aids, audio prompts, touch-based interaction, adaptive difficulty).
* Collaborate with nursery staff, SEN specialists, and therapists to ensure games meet developmental and educational goals.
* Test games with feedback from staff and adapt to suit children's varying abilities.
* Ensure games are safe, child-friendly, and aligned with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) curriculum.
* Stay updated on educational technology and inclusive design practices.
Essential Requirements
* Proven experience in game development (Unity, Unreal, Godot, or similar).
* Strong programming skills (C#, C++, Python, or visual scripting tools).
* Understanding of child development and SEN learning needs.
* Ability to design child-safe, intuitive, and engaging user experiences.
* Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable Requirements
* Previous experience developing educational or SEN-focused games.
* Knowledge of the EYFS framework.
* Familiarity with assistive technology and AAC (Augmentative & Alternative Communication).
* Portfolio showcasing relevant projects.
