Overview
Personal Assistant/Support Worker – Bright Green Light at Bath & North East Somerset Council. This role involves supporting a young autistic man in Radstock on a 1:1 basis to enable access to activities and opportunities.
Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 support to the young autistic man to access a variety of activities (e.g., swimming, disco, sensory therapies, work experience).
* Work as part of a knowledgeable team and be supported by a manager.
* Be caring, positive, supportive, calm and tolerant; demonstrate empathy and understanding of autism.
* Participate in training; prior experience is not essential.
* Support may include day and/or evening shifts, sleep-in shifts, and weekend shifts.
* Possibly drive with the young man’s Motability car; a clean driving licence is preferable.
Qualifications & Attributes
* Empathy and understanding of autism; able to work calmly within a supportive team.
* Willingness to undertake training; previous experience not essential.
* Car ownership or willingness to drive may be desirable due to the need for transportation in some activities.
Salary & Benefits
* Day/evening bank staff rate £14.70 per hour; sleep-in bank staff rate £9.00 per hour.
* Permanent contracts available with generous annual leave and pension.
* Free DBS checks and access to a comprehensive training package.
* Support from a Team Leader.
