Overview
Senior Asset Planning Sponsor – Solution Development role at Yorkshire Water. The position is a permanent, full-time role in the Integrated Catchment Team, with hybrid working and travel to wastewater assets as required.
Location & Work Type
Location: Flexible hybrid working with up to three days in the Sheffield office; some travel to assets may be required and a driving licence is needed. Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Role and Responsibilities
* Lead End-to-End Catchment Investigations and manage key programmes to deliver outputs aligned with tactical and strategic objectives.
* Develop and maintain live Asset and Catchment Management Plans that support Yorkshire Water’s strategic goals and regulatory commitments.
* Drive Process Development: identify, define, and implement new processes to support tactical planning and embed standards across the team.
* Oversee Programme Delivery: provide oversight across multiple programmes, share risks and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement.
* Output Assurance: support sponsors with technical and programme assurance, ensuring outputs are properly documented and quality assured.
What skills & qualifications you will need
* Asset Management Expertise: strong understanding of asset management in commercially driven or regulated environments.
* Wastewater Systems Knowledge: extensive technical knowledge of wastewater assets and catchment operations.
* Advanced Analytical Capability: ability to investigate, diagnose, and develop strategic solutions at a catchment level.
* Investment Plan Awareness: familiarity with AMP8 investment plans and asset/catchment strategy.
* Leadership & Collaboration: excellent communication and leadership, with experience working with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
* Leading Performance Investigations: experience in conducting investigations into performance shortfalls across wastewater assets and catchments.
* Data Proficiency: ability to interpret asset data types and apply insights to mitigate risks.
* Innovation & Value Creation: innovative approach to identifying and piloting new technologies or methods that deliver value.
* Business Case Development: strong capability to develop robust business cases with risk/benefit analysis and stakeholder alignment.
* Risk Awareness: understanding of site risks and ability to proactively manage them.
* Catchment Modelling Proficiency (benefit): familiarity with catchment modelling tools.
* Regulatory & Environmental Insight: awareness of regulatory frameworks and environmental policies relevant to wastewater asset management.
* Programme & Portfolio Leadership: experience managing complex programmes and portfolios with alignment to strategic objectives.
* Professional Accreditation: asset management qualification (e.g., IAM) or working towards one.
