Due to winning significant new business from automotive OEM customers, an experienced Tooling Project Engineer is sought to lead industrialisation and new product introduction activities.
Tooling Project Engineer: Metal stampings
Location: Newton Aycliffe
Responsibilities
* Lead delivery of tooling projects in line with approved budget, including control of contractors involved.
* Support the initial specification of project related equipment.
* Liaise with NPI and plant teams to ensure smooth introduction of new projects to agreed timing.
* Ensure all trials are conducted in a timely manner and all functions support up to PSW approval.
* Involvement in tooling/equipment buy off/project closure activities.
* Support the quality team on the PPAP process, and all APQP gateways.
* Working closely with Manufacturing Team to ensure timely introduction of plant based projects, D/PFMEA reviews and lessons learnt reviews.
Qualifications
* Significant knowledge of metal stamping/presswork, welded assembly tooling, jigs and fixtures and manufacturing processes.
* Practical project experience and ability to manage multiple/short lifetime projects, ideally gained within the automotive, off highway or special purpose vehicle industry.
* Experience in metal stamping/presswork, fabrication, welded/joining assemblies and product assembly is highly advantageous; any manufacturing using tooling for forming processes will be considered.
* CAD literate to review and analyse tooling solutions.
* Self‑motivated and confident with taking responsibility for all areas of work.
* HNC/ Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar.
* Able to travel throughout UK and Europe to meet suppliers or visit other plants on occasion.
