Management Accountant (Xero Specialist)
Location: Blyth
Salary: £40,000–£45,000 (depending on experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Overview
We are a growing organisation seeking a proactive and commercially minded Management Accountant to join our team. This is a hands-on role with full ownership of the Xero accounting platform, playing a key part in delivering high-quality financial information and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing meaningful financial insight and driving continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
* Own, manage and optimise the Xero accounting system, including integrated add-ons
* Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow)
* Lead the budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes, including detailed variance analysis
* Manage the month-end close process, including accruals, prepayments and depreciation
* Monitor and analyse costs, providing actionable insight to support operational decision-making
* Prepare and submit VAT returns
* Support year-end processes and liaise with external auditors
* Contribute to ad-hoc projects, financial modelling, business cases and investment appraisals
* Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes
Requirements
Essential
* Part-qualified or newly qualified CIMA, ACCA or ACA (or equivalent experience)
* Strong, hands-on experience using Xero in a management accounting capacity
* Sound understanding of management accounting principles
* Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capability
* Confident communicator with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
Desirable
* Experience within hire, service or project-based environments
* Exposure to Xero Projects and/or system integrations (e.g. CRM or operational systems)
* A continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving skills
