Job Description
What You'll Be Doing Initially
3. Produce monthly management accounts for the group and overseas entities, including all month‑end journals, reconciliations and supporting schedules
4. Support the Finance Manager with commentary on financial performance and variance analysis
5. Review internal finance processes with the Finance Manager and CFO, recommending technology‑enabled improvements
6. Assist with preparation of monthly board packs and investor reporting
7. Prepare quarterly VAT returns
8. Oversee sales ledger processing and produce monthly credit management reporting, including debt‑chasing where required
9. Manage loan accounting calculations and banking transactions
10. Support the Finance Manager through the annual group audit
11. Maintain accurate bookkeeping to trial balance within Xero, ensuring data is complete and aligned to the month‑end timetable
12. Supervise the Accounts Assistant
13. Support the Finance Manager and HR team with the monthly payroll cycle, including year‑end activities (P60s, P11Ds, etc.)
How Your Role Will Grow Over Time
14. Prepare and deliver tailored monthly financial reporting for the C‑suite and departmental leaders
15. Provide analysis and insight to support decision‑making across the senior leadership team
16. Contribute to strengthening financial controls and reporting processes across overseas subsidiaries
17. Work with the CFO to enhance group forecasting models, including long‑term planning, annual budgeting and rolling forecasts
18. Develop specialist skills as the finance team's Power BI lead
19. Collaborate with the PMO to analyse project performance and margins using new project‑tracking tools
20. Partner with commercial and marketing leaders to evaluate marketing ROI, sales pipeline performance and their impact on forecasts
21. Work with technical leadership to understand engineering resource allocation and help build business cases for R&D investment
The Successful Applicant
Skills & Experience We'd Love to See
22. Degree educated with strong academics, ideally in a numerate discipline
23. Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA)
24. Advanced Excel skills essential; familiarity with Xero advantageous
25. Experience within a private‑equity‑backed or scaling technology business is highly beneficial
26. Proactive, improvement‑focused mindset with a track record of driving efficiencies
27. Comfortable using technology to streamline or automate processes
28. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines
