Salary: £22,089.60 per annum (pro-rated for 30 hrs/week), based on a full-time equivalent salary of £27,612 per annum

What it's like to work here
Day-to-day you will be reporting to the Lead Ranger as part of the Ranger team, based at Craflwyn (near Beddgelert). Your primary focus will be on the day to day running of our tree nursery; collecting and processing seeds locally to grow the trees which will support our ambitious tree planting targets. In-house training and support will be provided, but previous horticultural experience would be advantageous.When you’re not in the nursery, you will help on the wider estate in Eifionydd with practical tasks from fencing and dry-stone walling to tree planting and managing invasive species. You will work closely with volunteers and members of the local community; the majority of whom are Welsh speaking, so the ability to communicate effectively in Welsh is highly desirable for this role.There can be no doubt that the area you will work in is stunning, but conditions in the mountains can be harsh. You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
You’ll make sure that the conservation work and outdoor experiences on the land in your care are of the highest standard. You’ll build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the Trust and letting people know about the work you and the team are doing.

Who we're looking for

1. practically experienced in conservation work, to protect and improve habitats and landscapes
2. happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing, and why it matters
3. hard-working and willing to learn
4. able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines
5. experienced in managing land, access and conservation, and working outdoors
6. able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates
7. a driver with a full UK driving licence
