Job Description
As NPD Formulation Coordinator, you will be responsible for managing and tracking formula-related NPD technical activities and supporting in the formulation development of new and existing products. This role will work closely with the rest of the Product Development team as well as with our manufacturing, testing and raw material partners.
Responsibilities:
* Support with the delivery of new product formulations in line with the NPD launch plan, including timeline tracking and key updates
* Manage existing reformulations as needed, in line with the evolving brand requirements and regulations
* Manage and update the internal formulation, testing, supplier and raw material inventories
* Support with the management of safety & efficacy testing
* Compile claim substantiation documentation as required
* Create & maintain the claim substantiation dossiers for all products
* Assist with artwork reviews
* Manage and track samples as well as internal formulation feedback
* Ensure the team is up to date on the latest raw material innovations, particularly active ingredients, researching and testing new textures in line with the brand’s ingredient policy and setting up raw material supplier meetings
* Assist with the management and development of training materials and documentation for all products, new and existing
* Work in close collaboration with the technical, operational and product marketing teams to ensure timely project delivery
* Support packaging development ensuring all required compatibility testing is planned and carried out
* Develop successful relationships with 3rd party chemists, testing houses, production teams as well as cross-functionally
* Manage and coordinate the pre-launch sampling requirements internally and with third parties
* Carry out competitor reviews in line with the innovation pipeline and stay abreast of competitor launches
* Manage the submission and reference sample archive
* Maintain and update the brand’s ingredient policy as required
* Support with the scale up and production process for new products, including sign off of critical of pre & post production samples to ensure the brand’s quality standards are met
* Support with the development of the ingredient sustainability policy for the brand
* Support with the investigation and resolution of formula-related quality issues
Experience & Requirements:
* 3+ year’s experience cosmetic product development, including of formulations with high levels of active ingredients
* Degree level or equivalent qualification in cosmetic science, chemistry, or equivalent
* Demonstrable knowledge of ingredients, formulation processes and scientific advances
* Proven experience of developing successful formulations and getting them through scale up and production
* Strong communication skills
* Strong project management skills and attention to detail
* Can work in a collaborative team environment as well as independently
* Demonstrated ability to operate at pace with flexibility, initiative, and solution orientate
* French or German speaker would be a strong plus
