Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in assessing project costs, ensuring accurate budgeting, and contributing to the overall financial success of our projects within the construction and highways sector. This position requires strong skills in cost control and a keen understanding of project specifications.
Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects by analysing blueprints, specifications, and other relevant documents.
* Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
* Conduct thorough market research to determine current material and labour costs.
* Monitor project budgets and provide recommendations for cost control measures.
* Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, including methodologies and assumptions used.
* Assist in the preparation of bids and proposals for potential projects.
* Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers regarding estimates and clarifications.
* Review completed projects to evaluate the accuracy of initial estimates and identify areas for improvement.
Qualifications
* Proven experience as an Estimator or in a similar role within the construction or engineering industry.
* Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices.
* Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
* Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
* A degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
