Main duties of the job
The post holder is a professional who works in the specialised area of pre-hospital emergency care and is employed to respond to and deal with cases arising from 999 calls, doctor emergencies, urgent calls, inter-hospital transfers and other allocated details. The post-holder is required to comply with Trust operational arrangements and clinical guidelines, respond promptly to instructions from the Clinical Contact Centre (CCC) and senior staff, and provide an appropriate level of care and treatment to patients within the post-holder’s training and competency. The post-holder is also required to drive safely and be responsible for the proper use of a Trust ambulance or other vehicle. They will normally work with a fully qualified Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic, but may work alone at times. When working with a less experienced colleague, the post holder is expected to provide appropriate guidance. Duties must be carried out in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, including clinical governance and the Code of Conduct and Standards of Professional Behaviour.

Job responsibilities:
Please note qualifications need to cover a level 2 Diploma including Essential/Key/Core Skills at Level 2 in Application of Number and Communication, or 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics/Numeracy, English/Welsh and combined Sciences or any single science. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Essential qualifications and knowledge
* Level 2 Diploma with Essential/Key/Core Skills at Level 2 in Application of Number and Communication; or Level 3 Ambulance Care Assistant qualification with related Core Skills; or 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including Mathematics/Numeracy, English/Welsh and sciences; or Pearson BTEC L3 Ambulance Aid or IHCD Ambulance Aid (legacy)
* Current UK driving licence for Class C1/D1 with a maximum of 3 endorsement points and no convictions for DUI

* Geographical knowledge, hospital A&E awareness
