Overview
We are looking for an experienced senior registered practitioner to be part of our theatre team in Glangwili General Hospital (GGH). GGH has a large theatre complex that runs 24-hour NCEPOD, emergency obstetrics, trauma services, and elective theatres, including a day theatre provision for adults and paediatrics.
The Theatre Manager will provide professional leadership and management of all resources within the Operating Theatres, ensuring visibility, accessibility and support. This includes leadership to the multi-disciplinary Theatre Practitioner and Healthcare Support Worker team to secure and assure the highest standards of care, ensuring availability of appropriate support services, maintaining infection control standards, and providing accessible support to patients, families and staff for assistance and early resolution of concerns.
Main duties
The post holder will be a credible and experienced leader with the ability to empower and develop all Theatre Practitioners in the clinical environment and will be accountable for high professional standards.
As a senior registered practitioner and team leader, you will support a team of band 7 practitioners in the daily running of the theatre department, provide expert clinical leadership, and be accountable for your own professional actions and the effective running of the service.
The post holder has autonomy to provide expert levels of practice and knowledge, promote evidence-based peri-operative care and work within personal, professional and corporate boundaries.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification
Qualifications and Knowledge (Essential):
* Registered Nurse Level 1 with current NMC registration OR Registered Operating Department Practitioner with current HCPC registration
* Relevant post-graduate courses/experience within relevant specialties to master’s level
* Evidence of continuous management development
* Recognised management qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Knowledge of NMC/HCPC registration and CPD requirements
* Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies
* Understanding of current policy and issues in professional practice and NHS standards
* Thorough understanding of the role within the organisation
Desirable:
* Teaching/assessment/mentoring qualification
* IQT Bronze/Silver
Experience (Essential):
* Clinical experience in Theatre and DSU services
* Experience in NHS acute sector middle-management
* Experience of managing change
* Clinical leadership at a senior management level
* Budget control experience and establishing controls
* Experience of major service change and navigating change programmes
* Experience of managing staff and working with Trade Unions/staff representatives
Language Skills (Desirable):
* Welsh speaker (Level 1)
