Overview
Abersychan Group Practice is seeking GPs to join with up to 6 sessions per week. Pay per session £11,000.00. Post due to start October 1, 2025, but may wait for the right candidate. Purpose-built premises at two sites in Abersychan, between Pontypool and Blaenavon.
Responsibilities
* Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, patient home visits, signing repeat prescriptions, processing queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
* Make professional, autonomous decisions about presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers.
* Assess health care needs of patients with undifferentiated/undiagnosed problems.
* Screen patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Develop care plans in consultation with patients in line with current disease management protocols.
* Prescribe in accordance with locally/nationally agreed guidelines.
About Us
Abersychan Group Practice serves approximately 10,600 patients and has provided general medical services in the area for over 40 years. We are a GP trainee practice with two GPs in training and a medical student. The practice is supported by one Salaried GP, one GP Retainer, one ANP, four Practice Nurses, one HCAs, two Phlebotomists and a team of receptionists and administrators. The practice participates in a wide range of National & Local Enhanced Services.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
* Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and full GMC registration.
* Completion of Foundation Training or equivalent.
* Up-to-date medical knowledge and knowledge of treatments, procedures and guidelines.
* Experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of conditions.
* Excellent communication, safeguarding awareness, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
Desirable
* Additional qualifications in family medicine, public health, or GP leadership; experience in clinical leadership or teaching; interest in minor surgery, dermatology, pediatrics.
Essential criteria
* Eligibility to work in the UK.
* Full driving license if home visits/travel required.
* Compassionate, patient-focused approach; strong organization and discretion.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team; time management skills.
