The Ancillary team at Dewsbury Hospital provides a portering service to support and maintain the high standards expected from the Trust. We are looking for an enthusiastic and dependable Post Room Porter to join the Trust and become part of our busy and dedicated team to support and deliver an efficient service.
This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week, Thursday & Friday, 08:00 - 16:00.
As part of the operational portering team, you will pick up and sort post to and from all areas in a timely manner, and assist with the franking of post. You will respond to the needs of the service, be sensitive to patients' needs, and be courteous and caring to all service users.
The successful applicant will undertake basic portering tasks, including assisting medical record porters and other related duties.
The post holder must be responsive to service needs, sensitive to patients, courteous, and caring. Duties may include routine tasks or immediate responses to meet Trust demands.
Key requirements
1. Report incidents requiring pest control and support cleaning and maintenance related to pest control.
2. Understand and support emergency procedures including major alerts and fire procedures.
3. Provide a messenger service between wards and departments.
4. Keep common areas clean and tidy.
5. Understand department operations to assist in its smooth running and workload prioritization.
6. Coordinate with wards/departments regarding deliveries.
7. File documents properly according to the filing system.
8. Label boxes with relevant order numbers for deliveries.
9. Liaise with wards/departments and procurement about deliveries.
