An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Bridges Manager to come join a busy client in South Yorkshire.
The main duties of the Bridges Manager are:
* Manage the Council's highway structure assets, including bridges and retaining wall, including both the development of maintenance programmes and bids for funding, and the control of activities that affect these assets including supervising the inspection programme.
* To lead and manage the delivery of schemes of all values from a few thousand to multi-million-pound improvements schemes within the Transportation Capital Investment Programme, including monitoring of associated scheme budgets and liaison across the Transportation Infrastructure Service.
* Representing the Service on working groups, forums and partnerships with which the group are or may be involved
* Collect and utilise technical data in order to prepare costs estimates, specifications, drawings, contract documents, bills of quantities and schedules of work.
* Provide consultancy advice and produce comprehensive technical reports for Council representatives and clients
* Developing briefs, issuing work for detailed design and liaising with other service units, outside bodies/agencies, and partners, to help foster co-operation and consensus and the provision of customer focussed services
* Prepare complex new works and maintenance scheme designs using engineering design standards, appropriate advice, guidance and codes of practice and act as 'CDM' principal designer and/or project manager where appropriate.
* Prepare costs estimates, drawings, contract documents, bills of quantities and schedules of work.
* Manage, monitor and control scheme and works order budgets and assist with the management of the internal budget of the team.
* Provide effective project, safety, programme and performance management and coordination of resources within the team including planning and allocation of work and training
* Supervise site works including acting as project manager under the contract and ensure that the required specifications and safety standards are met.
* Manage and supervise other technical staff within the team, including planning and allocating work, checking work is done to time and quality and carrying out on-job training
* Carry out site inspections and surveys and if appropriate initiate or attend to remedial action in the event of transportation asset failure.
