Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - Low Secure Forensic Service
The service is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Locum Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in forensic psychiatry to work within the low secure male mental illness acute assessment and treatment ward. This is a new post following a restructure, and the provision of dedicated ward based consultants.
This is a less than full time post at 0.8 WTE, with a ratio of 6 PA clinical to 2PA supporting professional activities. It is anticipated that the post can attract additional PAs via the medical directorate.
Responsibilities
* Have RC responsibilities for up to 12 male inpatients detained on restricted and unrestricted sections of the MHA.
* Provide access assessments on behalf of the West Yorkshire secure provider collaborative.
* Provide risk assessment and management advice for colleagues in acute services, with about 2 assessments per month.
* Provide excellent clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team to stabilise acute mental illness and manage risk. Service users will have divergent pathways including remission to prison, transfer to the rehabilitation ward and, in some cases, direct discharge to the community.
* Deliver high quality efficient and effective care for service users working in a trauma informed collaborative way.
* Teach, train and supervise junior medical staff and other professionals.
* Comply with the requirements of the GMC and Royal College of Psychiatrists.
* Join the Leeds and York Partnership Foundation Trust general adult on-call rota and be third on-call.
