Student Welfare Officer
Gosport
Full time – Term time only
TEMPORARY
Key Responsibilities
* Build supportive, caring relationships with students, offering one-on-one support for mental health, homelessness, anxiety, stress, and other challenges.
* Provide targeted support for students with complex needs, coordinating with external support services when needed.
* Refer students to professional counselling or mental health services as required.
* Collaborate with staff, parents, and external services to ensure effective, individualized student support.
* Act as part of the Safeguarding Team, responding to disclosures and referrals under the guidance of the Safeguarding Lead.
* Conduct risk assessments for vulnerable students, including those with disabilities or specific needs.
Emotional and Mental Health Support
* Support students facing social, emotional, or mental health challenges through individual or group interventions.
* Develop and implement strategies to improve resilience, emotional literacy, and overall well-being.
* Work with external specialists to implement tailored intervention plans and advise staff on effective strategies.
General Responsibilities
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies.
* Stay updated on safeguarding and child protection practices.
* Promote British values and comply with all college policies.
* Participate in training and undertake additional duties as directed by leadership.
Must have
* English & Math at Level 2
* Experience in a similar role
* Sound understanding of the types of support needed for young people and adults accessing post-16 education
* Exceptional knowledge and understanding of safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults
