Job summary

Wecurrently have a vacancy for a new care package providing care in the homeenvironment. This is a part time post working 36 hours per week, working hours are Monday-Friday and Sunday 09:00-15:00.

Fulltraining and support will be given.

You will be delivering care tochildren or young people within the home environment. This involves beingtrained to competently deliver specialist care procedures, e.g. tracheostomycare, home ventilation, enteral feeding and other clinical skills dependant onindividual needs.

Main duties of the job

Work as part ofa multi-disciplinary team involved in the assessment and care of children withcomplex nursing needs.

To communicateat an appropriate level for individual children, young people and their carers

Undertakenursing duties, as agreed with the Orchard Service who are responsible for thechild/ young person. This may include ventilation, tracheostomy, enteralfeeding etc.

To understandindividual plans of care to ensure appropriate action is taken in the event ofa change in condition or problem occurring.

Assist with thepersonal care and comfort of the child and to maintain the childs dignity andprivacy at all times, including manual handling when necessary.

Assist inmaintaining a safe environment for the child, family/carers and staff,including safe use of equipment, reporting any malfunctions urgently.

Person Specification


Additional Criteria

* Able to meet the travel requirements of the post.
* All adverts for non-clinical roles and Band 2 vacancies


Experience

* Experience in working with children, particularly those with special needs and their families.


Qualifications

* Relevant qualification e.g. NNEB, Diploma in Childhood Studies, NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
* Ability to complete in depth training re complex nursing care for individual children/ young people.
* The post holder will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
* I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.


Knowledge

* Child Protection legislation.

* Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Relevant professional standards
* Friendly and approachable for children and their parents
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Adaptable, self motivated and enthusiastic

* Able to work nights and weekends
