JOB PURPOSE
You will understand the daily Make Ready performance requirements specific to each press to deliver operational expectations aligned with the company’s business targets. Your role will focus on improving overall performance in make ready, material yield, run speed, and reducing lost time by supporting printers. You will identify where excellent performance exists and implement processes to achieve and maintain it, thereby continuously enhancing team performance.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
1. Support Print Operators in achieving Make Ready & Downtime targets, considering your role when assessing performance outcomes.
2. Ensure all Make Ready and Wash Up tasks are completed efficiently to facilitate continuous press operation.
3. Maintain Make Ready, Wash Up, and general assist performance as per Shift Team Leader expectations.
4. Work from electronic production plans at the Make Ready station, collect job bags and plates from specification files near the PMT station.
5. Gather relevant cylinders and magnetic dies, prepare trolleys, and mount plates carefully using plate mounting cameras, ensuring accurate cutting prior to mounting.
6. Retrieve tools from racks, prepare trolleys, and make them available to printers before job completion.
7. Perform wash-up at the end of print jobs, including ink recovery, tray cleaning, and anilox cleaning, then reassemble on press.
8. Remove used plates from cylinders, clean in the automatic plate cleaner, and return them to the specification file.
9. Assist printers promptly upon request, implementing a ‘pit-stop’ approach to minimize press downtime, and ensure all preparations for the next job are completed.
10. Handle deliveries and sign for goods when ‘Goods In’ personnel are unavailable.
11. Clean anilox rollers as needed using mechanical cleaners.
12. Use forklifts to move materials from racking as required.
13. Empty bins at shift end or as necessary during shifts.
14. Ensure all print consumables are available on press, including cores, wipes, and cleaning fluids.
15. Conduct weekly stock checks of inks and consumables with the Goods In operator.
WORKING HOURS:
This role involves working three 12-hour shifts weekly, rotating between days and nights.
