SEN Teaching Assistant – EYFS (SLCN Support)

Teaching Personnel are looking to appoint a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). This role begins after the Easter break and will continue for the remainder of the academic year, with the possibility of extension.
About the Role:
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and the school’s SENDCO to support the child’s communication development, social interaction and access to learning. Your day‑to‑day responsibilities will include:
* Providing targeted 1:1 support using strategies recommended by external professionals
* Encouraging speech, language development and early communication skills
* Supporting play‑based learning and helping the child engage with classroom activities
* Implementing personalised support plans
* Building positive, trusting relationships with the child and their family
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting children with SLCN or other additional needs (EYFS experience desirable)
* A warm, nurturing approach with strong communication skills
* Patience, creativity, and the ability to motivate young learners
* A proactive attitude and willingness to follow specialist advice
* Up‑to‑date safeguarding knowledge (Teaching Personnel can provide training)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
