* Understand the types of digital data stored on devices and be familiar with common operating systems, apps, social media platforms, and core internet technologies.
* Assist with investigative work, data interpretation, analytical thinking, and the use of Microsoft tools.
* Familiarity with specialist forensic software (Cellebrite, FTK, GrayKey) is a strong advantage.
* Complete essential training covering the extraction and handling of data from mobile and computer devices.

Requirements

* Solid grasp of the types of digital data stored on devices such as phones and computers; familiarity with common operating systems, apps, social media platforms, and core internet technologies.
* Experience in investigative work, data interpretation, analytical thinking, and confident use of Microsoft tools.
* Knowledge of specialist forensic software (including Cellebrite, FTK, or GrayKey) is strongly preferred.
* Prepared to complete essential training on data extraction and handling from mobile and computer devices.

Security, Vetting and Eligibility

* Security is paramount; pass and maintain vetting level SC with enhanced security checks. Eligibility requires British Nationality and residence in the UK for the past five years; exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government) and studying abroad. There may be limited travel restrictions once in post.
* Emotional and psychological resilience is essential; able to manage exposure to disturbing or offensive content. A psychological assessment is required before starting, followed by annual screenings.

Logistics

* Flexibility in working hours and occasional travel across the south east region. A full UK driving licence is essential.
* Security vetting requirements may affect eligibility; you must be prepared to pass and maintain the necessary checks.
