As Project Manager, you will hold responsibility for the safe and efficient delivery of complex ground‑engineering work packages. You will lead integrated teams across operations, design, plant, procurement and commercial, set delivery standards, and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships. The role requires strategic oversight of programme, commercial performance, quality assurance, and adherence to NEC4 Option 4 Alliance behaviours.
You will be expected to drive a high‑performance culture, resolve key issues, and ensure governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across the project.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical & Site Ops: Lead and integrate operations/design/plant/procurement/commercial for D-Wall/soil mixing; set delivery standards and governance.
2. Leadership & Attitude: Set vision, standards, and behaviours; develop team/succession plans; lead formal disciplinary & grievance processes; senior stakeholder/client leadership.
3. Safety: Sponsor/chair significant investigations; ensure learning reviews and CAPA closure; set and track safety KPIs; drive Zero Harm culture.
4. Site Briefings: Set governance for briefing quality; deliver high-level client/safety briefings; assure compliance across the project.
5. Quality: Set QA strategy/KPIs for D-Wall/soil mixing; ensure audits and systemic corrective actions; assure ITP/record completeness; provide client quality reporting.
6. Procurement: Set procurement strategy (category sourcing, hire vs buy, strategic suppliers); approve major commitments; manage long-lead capacity and relationships.
7. Productivity: Establish productivity KPIs/targets for wall panels and soil mixing; sponsor improvement programmes; align with programme and commercial outcomes.
8. Programme: Own the master programme; govern logic and critical path; protect/manage terminal float; direct resequencing and risk responses; approve delay/extension strategies.
9. Commercial: Own commercial strategy; oversee EWs/NCEs/CEs and negotiations; lead CVR/earned value/forecasts; resolve commercial disputes.
10. Contractual (NEC4 Option 4 – Alliance): Provide contractual leadership; chair risk-reduction meetings; manage change/claims; interface with Alliance Board/Core Group; flow down obligations to subcontractors.
11. Other (standardisation & versatility): Responsibilities are guidelines to standardise expectations across multidisciplinary projects. Tasks may flex up/down or across teams (operations, technical, commercial, procurement, quality, safety, logistics, etc.) depending on project needs; maintain a proactive, solution-focused attitude. Works may occasionally require weekend or night shifts, so a rotation system may be expected in line with project requirements.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential
12. 8+ years’ experience in project or construction leadership roles.
13. Degree in a relevant discipline or significant equivalent experience.
14. Strong leadership capability with experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
15. Proven ability to lead programme governance, commercial performance, and integrated delivery.
16. Demonstrated experience with NEC contracts (especially NEC4) in a major project environment.
17. Strong understanding of ground‑engineering delivery (e.g., D‑Wall, piling, soil‑mixing).
18. Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
19. CSCS and SMSTS.
Desirable
20. Formal management or leadership qualification.
21. NEC4 accreditation and/or advanced safety/leadership training.
22. Appointed Person (AP) course.
23. Experience delivering major infrastructure projects within an alliance environment.
24. Expertise in CVR/earned value/margin management.
25. Advanced proficiency with MS Project/P6, Cemar, Power BI, or similar reporting tools.
