In this role you will greet and welcome customers warmly, chat to find out their shopping needs, sell the right products and make their shopping experience great.
You will also ensure the store looks great, maintain product displays, provide excellent customer service, and support the Post Office functions.
Responsibilities
* Greet each customer with a warm and friendly welcome
* Listen to customers and find out what they need
* Help customers find the products and services they want
* Be knowledgeable about products and services, including Post Office processes and procedures
* Ensure the Post Office business is transacted in line with POL rules and regulations
* Monitor cash availability and ensure accurate cash declarations
* Maintain product availability and information leaflets in the Post Office
* Complete tasks as shown on routines pad, paying particular attention to areas with financial penalties
* Keep management informed of potential losses and transaction corrections
* Report hazards and ensure safety, health and welfare of colleagues and customers
* Act on audit next‑steps to improve scores and comply with regulatory training
* Assist the Retail team/manager as opportunities arise
* Promote add‑on sales by asking the right questions and upselling to customers
* Support the achievement of key targets and manage operational routines
* Maintain store appearance and product displays at all times
* Ensure compliance with 25+ age restrictions when serving age‑restricted products
* Support team communication, development, succession planning and performance reviews
* Maintain accurate cash and compliance records and follow up on issues
* Display company values and share examples with team and management
* Participate in training and attend courses whenever possible
Requirements
* Welcome customers and provide excellent service
* Pass regulatory compliance training (Bronze, Silver, Gold)
* Ability to work flexible hours and part‑time schedule
* Good communication, teamwork and problem‑solving skills
* Prior experience in a Post Office or retail environment preferred
* Strong customer service orientation and ability to upsell
* Basic cash handling and record‑keeping skills
* Knowledge of safety, health & welfare at work
* Commitment to meeting retail and Post Office targets
* Ability to learn product and service changes quickly
* Responsible approach to managing staff and performance
