The Vacancy
This Engineering Trainer role involves managing and developing comprehensive, innovative teaching and learning experiences in practical and theoretical skills within current apprenticeship standards.
The role requires delivering high-quality technical training to small groups of learners through face-to-face or online methods.
You will also focus on developing soft skills embedded within apprenticeships, providing regular constructive feedback, and recording the impact of learners' progress.
Key Activities:
* Delivering mechanical knowledge and practical subjects at levels 2, 3, and HTC/HNC – L4, fostering independent learners.
* Practically delivering Hand Fitting, Assembly, Turning, Milling, and CNC programming/operating.
* Supporting apprentice progression towards successful completion.
* Managing physical learning resources and spaces to ensure effective training and assessment within guided hours.
* Creating learning content, schemes of work, and assessment materials.
* Integrating relevant industry training offers into the apprenticeship scheme.
* Monitoring the learning environment.
* Ensuring learner health, safety, and welfare in collaboration with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Knowledge:
* Strong practical engineering background in Mechanical/Electrical disciplines; multi-skilled experience is preferable.
* Experience in Milling, Turning, CNC Programming/Manufacturing.
* Understanding assessment methods and techniques.
* Familiarity with End Point Assessment.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding and the Prevent Duty.
Qualifications:
* Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
* Recognised Assessor qualification or willingness to gain one, such as A1 or Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.
* Functional Skills Level 2 / GCSEs or equivalent in Maths and English (grade C or above).
* Recognised Quality Assurance qualification, such as V1 or Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance.
* Recognised coaching qualification.
* Higher Education qualification (Level 4 or above) in an Engineering discipline.
