An exciting opportunity has arisen for Severe Accident Analytical Engineers to join the Rolls-Royce Submarines Team in Derby. Based in the Reactor Engineering business unit, you will work within the Containment and Consequences team to support the design, manufacture, commissioning, maintenance, and disposal of submarine reactor plants.

Job Responsibilities
The Severe Accident Analysis team develops reactor and containment models to analyze behavior during severe accident scenarios. Responsibilities include:
* Deriving design requirements for reactor containment structures
* Assessing radiological consequences for safety cases and regulatory compliance
* Supporting enterprise partners with bespoke assessments
* Verifying and validating severe accident codes and models
The role involves analytical work across the reactor lifecycle, from design to decommissioning, using cutting-edge tools and methods. You will be responsible for delivering technical work packages, monitoring progress, managing risks, and collaborating with teams.
Candidate Profile
We seek individuals with:
* Experience in nuclear physics, thermal hydraulics, or heat transfer
* A relevant degree (undergraduate, masters, or PhD) in engineering, physics, or a scientific subject
* An analytical mindset with critical thinking and attention to detail
* Effective communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Opportunities are available for recent graduates to experienced senior engineers. The professional level and salary depend on experience.
