Our Opportunity
We currently have an opening in our Cheadle based Systems Engineering job family for an IVVQ Engineer (Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification).
As an IVVQ Engineer, you will be responsible for system integration and system testing for solutions that meet the needs of our clients and users within the rail domain. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, implement, test and integrate solutions, and ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of our products and solutions.
This is a hybrid role working a minimum of two days per week from our site in Cheadle, Stockport, Manchester.
Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
* Identify and address technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and other engineering issues
* Work collaboratively with other engineering disciplines and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of the project
* Understand and follow the project delivery processes, methodologies, and use the defined tools as set out in the GTS Management System and the project specific Engineering Management Plans and IVVQ Management Plans
* Keep up to date with the latest technologies, tools, and trends in IVVQ development
* Support Work Package Managers with timely provision of status, accurate measurement of progress and forecasting of remaining work and by Identifying change, variation, risk and opportunity to the work package manager wherever the scope of works is impacted
* Review and improve test plans, test strategy documents and test scripts
* Write test specifications, working from system requirements
* Execute test specifications (according to test plan and project schedule) and record results of test execution
* Raise, investigate and verify defects
* Develop tools to support the investigation of testing defects and issues
* Provide status reports and escalate issues to the Senior IVVQ Engineer where necessary
* Work with requirements to ensure full test coverage and requirements is achieved
Technical Skills and Experience
* Experience in systems development, with a strong understanding of IVVQ principles and methodologies
* Ability to troubleshoot complex issues
* The ability to work effectively in a team environment
* Experience working in an engineering environment and understanding of engineering delivery methodologies
* Understanding of Configuration Control
* Ability to use and develop IVVQ tools.
Human Skills
* Strong problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* A passion for learning and staying current with new technologies and industry trends
* Excellent stakeholder management
What to expect
We aim to complete a two-stage interview process, with at least one of these held in person at our Cheadle office. The interviews will focus separately on technical and behavioural competencies.
