Overview
Library Assistant role at Warwickshire County Council (WMJobs). This is a permanent 15-hour per week contract, with hours over a minimum of three days. Hours to be agreed with the Principal Librarian: Reading and Learning. The post is based with the Library Engagement and Development Team at Hawkes Point, Warwick, and involves supporting customers and maintaining positive working relationships with partners.
Responsibilities
* Operate the Book Trust gifting programmes which distribute free book packs to babies and pre-school children in Warwickshire via registration services and early years settings.
* Work as part of the Library Engagement and Development Team, contributing to a positive customer experience for people of all ages.
* Support office-based duties with occasional involvement in library outreach.
* Handle deliveries with some manual handling as part of the role.
Qualifications and Skills
* 4 GCSEs, grade C or above, including English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Experience of working with members of the public in a customer service environment.
* Systematic, methodical and accurate approach to work.
* Clear communication in person, in writing and on the telephone to a range of people.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines.
* Ability to share enthusiasm and knowledge of books and reading with customers of all ages.
* Ability and willingness to deliver promotional activities with customers of all ages.
* Experience using ICT and Windows-based computer packages.
* Ability to work well within a team and with staff at all levels, with some initiative and the ability to work with limited supervision.
* Ability to move and handle library resources with/without aid.
