Job Title: Family Support Social WorkerLocation: Barry, Vale of GlamorganSalary: £41,124 – £49,711 per annum (including £5,000 annual enhancement)Relocation Package: Up to £8,000 (subject to eligibility)Contract Type: PermanentHours: Full-time (37 hours per week)About the Role The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Social Worker to join our Family Support Team. In this role, you will work with children, young people, and their families to provide support and interventions that promote safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes. You will manage cases involving child protection, care planning, and long-term support, ensuring that all work is carried out in line with relevant legislation and best practice standards.Key Responsibilities
* Conduct assessments and develop care plans for children and families.
* Implement and review child protection plans and care proceedings.
* Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure coordinated support.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
* Participate in supervision and professional development activities.
Essential Criteria
* A recognised social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, CSS, or equivalent).
* Registration with Social Care Wales.
* Experience in statutory social work with children and families.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience of using the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.
* Ability to work effectively within a team and manage a caseload.
* Experience of working with families in a variety of settings.
