Bank Special School Nurse
Monday to Friday (Part time will be considered), Up to 37.5 hours
Job Purpose
* To work as part of the Special School Nursing Team, taking overall responsibility for the assessment, provision, management, and evaluation of evidence-based nursing care to children in the Special Schools.
* To work as part of the team, providing day-to-day management of care worker staff, equipment, and clinical resources in the schools, in line with professional standards and quality of care.
* To train relevant support staff and care workers according to competency-based training packages.
* To provide clinical input to the school management boards on school-wide issues.
Main duties of the job
* Manage the nursing team in the school, organizing systems of work according to job descriptions.
* Ensure effective communication and liaison between the nursing team, teachers, parents, and other agencies to foster effective interagency work and multidisciplinary care.
* Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
* Provide service reports, action plans, and evaluations reflecting strategic priorities for children and families with special needs, liaising with line managers.
* Be the first point of contact for staff, students, service users, and stakeholders, responding promptly to operational health delivery issues.
* Work within CLCH and school policies and standards.
* Analyze school health data to develop future care programs in conjunction with others.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Assess health needs of children and the school community, and develop individual and school health plans through multidisciplinary partnerships.
* Organize daily nursing services for children with complex needs at Special Needs Schools.
* Provide skilled, evidence-based nursing care for children with complex needs, including technology-dependent children.
* Participate in clinical interventions, promote resource use, and ensure high standards of care for primary and secondary school children.
* Offer information and support to families for nursing care choices.
* Administer prescribed medication and ensure safe storage according to CLCH policies.
* Deliver and manage training for school and health staff on healthcare delivery, including competency assessments.
Person specification
Essential and Desirable
* Registered Nurse (RN)
* Experience liaising with multi-agency or school leadership teams
* Experience setting up or leading staff training, e.g., school, health, respite, parents
* Knowledge of national policies for children and families
* Recent professional development related to SEN
* Practice Teacher qualification
* Experience in School Health or MDT school setting
* Experience with transitions, e.g., early years to primary, children to adult services
