We currently have a vacancy for a Clerical Officer post within the Eye Outpatient Department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

The role of the Clerical Officer is to ensure that paperwork is processed using patient based record system called MediSIGHT, scanned into the patients PMS record and paper copies posted to recipients. Ordering of stationery via PECOS and other administrative tasks that may arise.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly individual to join our service. This can be a demanding role with a high volume workload. The post holder should be able to work autonomously.

The ideal candidate should have knowledge of PMS and previous experience within a hospital environment, however training can be given.

Who we are

The Medical Secretarial Service provides secretarial and administration support to medical, surgical, and clinical teams across the acute sector of NHS Grampian. The team consists of Medical Secretaries, Audio Typists, Administrators, Filing Clerks, Receptionists, Trainers, PAs, and the Management Team.

There are opportunities for expansion and progression within the Medical Secretarial Service, including expanding your knowledge in to various other medical, surgical, and clinical services, or over time developing in to supervisory, training, or management roles.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR CANDIDATES

As from 1/4/26, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
