Who are we looking for?
Burton & South Derbyshire College is seeking to appoint an Assistant Director of English and Maths to join its Curriculum Leadership Team. This newly created role reflects the College’s commitment to improving learner outcomes and expanding opportunities for students to successfully resit and achieve their English and Maths qualifications.
The College delivers a diverse range of technical, vocational, and professional education programmes from entry level through to higher education, enriched by strong employer partnerships. BSDC is a medium-sized general further education college, operating across two campuses, and is working towards becoming a vibrant, dynamic, and globally connected institution. Following its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2024, the College was rated Outstanding and continues to maintain a strong financial position.
Reporting to the Assistant Principal (Curriculum), the Assistant Director of English and Maths will provide strategic and operational leadership across the English and Maths curriculum. They will have direct line management of Curriculum Team Leaders and play a key role in shaping a high-performing, learner-centred provision that responds to both local and national skills needs.
The successful candidate will be an inspiring leader, capable of motivating teams to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and outcomes in English and Maths. They will have a strategic mindset, balanced with the ability to manage day-to-day operations with precision and care.
