Job Description: Senior Engineer – Fire & Security Systems
Location: Field-based, covering Birmingham to Norwich to Southampton
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000+ per annum (depending on experience)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM start, 8-hour days

Overview:
We are recruiting for an experienced and driven Senior Fire & Security Engineer to support and lead a growing service and installation team. This is a field-based leadership role, ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work but is also ready to mentor junior engineers, lead projects, and support business growth.
This role involves working across a wide region (Birmingham to Norwich to Southampton) with exposure to complex integrated systems across commercial, residential, and industrial sites.
We are looking for all-around Fire Engineers that can install, service, commission and maintain a fire alarm system.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead by example in delivering high-quality:
* Servicing and commissioning of fire & security systems
* Reactive fault-finding and repairs
* Technical troubleshooting and customer liaison
* Assist with project delivery: site coordination, client communication, technical problem-solving
* Provide guidance and mentoring to junior engineers, supporting their development
* Ensure company documentation and standards are adhered to, maintaining full compliance
* Represent the company professionally with clients, maintaining strong working relationships
* Participate in the 24/7 standby rota as part of your leadership responsibilities
* Support your line manager with stock control, planning, and on-site quality assurance
Requirements:
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in Fire & Security engineering
* Proven ability to lead teams or mentor junior staff
* Comprehensive knowledge of:
* Fire alarms (BS 5839 Part 1 & 6)
* Intruder alarms
* Access control systems
* Automated gates
* (Optional but desirable: CCTV, integrated systems)
* Good working knowledge of British Standards and Health & Safety
* Valid UK driving licence
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Comfortable working with technology (laptops, meters, reporting systems)
* Strong organisation, initiative, and decision-making abilities
Ideal but Not Essential:
* FIA units or equivalent
* Experience managing sub-contractors or small project teams
* CSCS/ECS card
* Experience with RAMS and site inductions
