 
        
        Senior Occupational Therapist – Secondment
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced occupational therapist to act as the Band 7 Clinical Lead Occupational Therapist for a 12‑month secondment in Canterbury. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality occupational therapy interventions across inpatient and community settings, providing clinical leadership and strategic development to advance the East Rehabilitation pathway.
Main Responsibilities
 * Lead the development and delivery of occupational therapy within the East Rehabilitation pathway for both inpatient and community rehabilitation.
 * Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate therapeutic interventions for service users in inpatient rehabilitation units, managing a defined caseload of complex cases.
 * Provide clinical leadership to junior staff and students, supervising, appraising and training them to maintain high standards of practice.
 * Manage the quality and performance of the occupational therapy team, implementing evidence‑based, service‑user‑centred principles.
 * Collaborate as part of the multidisciplinary team to drive outcomes and share best practice.
Person Specification
Essential
 * Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
 * State registration with the Health and Care Professions Council.
 * Practice Placement Qualification.
 * Highly specialist training in relevant assessments and interventions at postgraduate level (e.g., CBT, Open Dialogue).
 * Minimum 4 years post‑graduate experience, including at least 2 years in a specialty.
 * Experience in a range of mental health settings.
 * Experience supervising staff and delivering both individual and group work.
 * Audit or research experience.
 * Excellent understanding of clinical governance.
 * Specialist assessment and intervention skills for complex psychosis.
 * Knowledge of current best practice for occupational therapy in complex psychosis.
 * Proficiency in applying occupational therapy outcome measures and models of practice.
 * Strong evidence of effective leadership and multidisciplinary working.
Desirable
 * Additional training in rehabilitation for complex psychosis (e.g., hearing‑voices CBT‑p).
 * Evidence of published or presented work.
Contract Details
Band 7, full‑time secondment; salary £47,810‑£54,710 per annum.

Additional Requirements
